Super Color Digital and Outside Lands 2017

Last weekend over 200,000 music fans flocked to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park for the 10th annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, headlined by Metallica, The Who, and Gorillaz.

With Outside Lands turning ten years old, they turned to Super Color Digital to visually redefine their visual presence throughout many key areas of the festival.

Taking center stage, the main showpiece was our fabric graphics applied all around Outside Land’s main stage. In order to stand out and be the “focal point” of the festival, we created grand format industrial-themed stage scrims, which dressed up the stage from head to toe. The overall design captured the artistic and creative essence that Outside Lands brings year to year.

We also collaborated with two renowned Bay Area artists when designing and printing the stage scrims for the Twin Peaks and Sutro stages. Even though both had their unique artistic and visual qualities, both captured the creative and musical heritage of San Francisco.

Music, art, and food weren’t the only part of Outside Lands. Comedy had a great laugh with The Barbary Comedy and Improv tent. Although Jeff Goldblum and Nick Kroll performed such comedic acts, the main star was the cutting-edge pixel LED sign exclusively designed, engineered, and fabricated by Super Color Digital. With a unique color program, the Barbary sign was a sleeper hit of the festival.

With unmatched music, art, food, visuals, and so much more, Outside Lands continues to be one of the most popular music festivals. Super Color Digital is thankful to be a continued visual partner of such an innovative festival.
