As the Summer begins so does the Pageant of the Masters. The Pageant of the Masters is an annual event held by the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach California. The first Festival of Arts was produced in 1932, and the first presentation of the Pageant was done in 1933. Since then, the two events have been held each summer. At Super Color Digital we are huge fans of art and culture, so naturally, we were honored to create some visuals for the entryway to the pageant itself.
The event is known for its tableaux vivants or “living pictures” in which classical and contemporary works of art are recreated by real people. Actors are made to look nearly identical to the originals through the clever application of costumes, lighting, props, and backdrops. Each day there are 90 minutes of “living pictures”, accompanied by a professional narrator and an orchestra playing period music.
The Pageant is held for eight weeks each summer and hosts more than a quarter-million people each year. Hosting an event like this is no easy feat. It takes a team of very dedicated people months of planning. Super Color Digital was proud to be a part of the team. We have always taken pride in our community and being able to be a part of such a wonderful event with so many talented individuals was truly a pleasure. We hope to contribute to this event for years to come.
