Classic Blue is The 2020 Color of The Year

It’s hard to believe that 20 years ago Pantone announced that Cerulean Blue was the color of the year in 2000. In the coming year, a different shade of blue has been announced as the 2020 color of the year. This color is Classic Blue.

Interestingly, Cerulean Blue is similar to the color of the sky at the beginning of the day. In contrast, Classic Blue resembles the color of the sky at the end of the day; it’s as if the day is done and we are looking to the future.

Color specialist Leatrice Eiseman is recently quoted saying: “When we look at the world around us, we know that we’re living with lot of unrest, where some days we don’t feel quite as secure. Blue, from a psychological standpoint, has always represented a certain amount of calm and dependability. It’s a color that you can rely on.”

Classic Blue offers stability, connection and a reassuring presence. Because of this, Pantone’s 2020 color of the year will see a return to the traditional decorating style.

In conclusion, you can expect a variety of complementary shades of greygreen, pink and yellow in the coming year. Such examples are colors like “First light,” an airy pink alternative to white or beige, Golden Straw, Cushing Green and Oxford Gray.
