Green Initiatives At Super Color Digital

When it comes to reducing, repurposing, and recycling, Super Color Digital’s green initiatives are made to create a better, brighter, and “greener” future. At Super Color Digital, we are moving towards protecting the planet. Demonstrated below are the green initiatives Super Color Digital has in place.

Production Waste

Currently, we are recycling scrap metal, plastic, and other suitable materials. Since 2018, Super Color Digital has recycled over 100,000 lbs. of scrap metal. In addition, since 2018, we have also recycled over 80,000 lbs. of scrap plastic. All used blades are safely secured and stored in a SHARPS container to then be recycled.

Green Technology

By utilizing automated cutting machines and eco-friendly printers that used LED and UV lighting, we can maintain about a 50% green technology practice. The LED and UV technology requires almost no warmup time with instant on/off. Since the beginning of 2016, we established innovation with our R & D team to constantly review and act on energy-efficient Lightboxes, Printing Productions, Substrates, and introduce best practices.

Better Chemistry

At Super Color Digital, we are mindful of the chemicals we use for our printers. We use UV inks that are free from VOCs for our printers. These UV inks also contain no heavy metals or other poisonous or corrosive substances. The UV inks are certified by GreenGuard because they emit immensely lower volumes of harmless substances into the atmosphere.

Building Practices

While moving our materials and equipment to be more eco-friendly, we shifted our perspective to better practices in our offices. Back in 2016, we replaced old fluorescent light bulbs with more energy-efficient lights throughout the office areas and placed automatic lights in bathrooms and offices to turn on when there is motion. We also added hand drying stations in bathrooms to moderate the use of paper towels. By removing plants and grass from the front building for more drought-tolerant landscaping, it has helped lower water consumption. Changing out thermostats to internet controlled throughout our facility to cut energy cost when not in use. We also turn off unused equipment after 4 pm to help keep energy level consumption lower, especially in the summer months.  Lastly, we have strategically placed filtered water fountains throughout the buildings to discourage plastic water bottle usage.

These are all ongoing green initiatives Super Color Digital has implemented to create a better, brighter, and “greener” future. We do our best to reduce, repurpose, and recycle materials and energy while remaining productive to achieve a smaller carbon footprint. Super Color Digital will continue its eco-friendly practices as well as incorporating more changes as we progress.
